The Performance Group 2 is an invitation-based class designed for more advanced dancers to create and make performance-ready ongoing choreographic content. Students will work with instructors to develop their choreographic and performative skills with a strong focus on increasing dynamic range and complexity of movement vocabulary. This class combines Ballet, Contemporary, and Theatrical sensibilities to guide students toward a deep understanding of the eclecticism and cross-pollination of dance forms. Students in the Performance Group represent MST Dance Academy in local events, anchor our inaugural mid-year production, and form the core of student leaders at MST. Please note this class meets twice a week on Tuesdays (7-8:30pm @ MST)and Thursdays (7:15-8:30pm @ MST) and requires registration of and partipation in at least one other technique class.

Our tap classes explore various styles of tap dancing including Musical Theater Tap. Classes begin with a fun warm-up focusing on technique and weight shifts. This gives students the ability to refine their listening skills as well as building and strengthening their tap sounds, quality and style. At the end of each class, students will learn a combination that incorporates the lessons covered. The routine will challenge students rhythmically and musically, while giving them an opportunity to learn and expand upon their tap vocabulary.

Floor work is followed by standing conditioning and balancing exercises, off-center explorations, and expansive traveling dance phrase-work. Dance Director Sarah Weber Gallo invites young dancers to expand their dance horizons with this fun and flowing class!
