Call for Ten-Minute Plays about Baseball

Mile Square Theatre in Hoboken, New Jersey
is pleased to announce open submissions
for the 7th Annual 7th Inning Stretch —
7 ten-minute plays about baseball.

    Submission guidelines:
    • Submission by email only to milesquaresubmissions@gmail.com.
    • Submission deadline is November 1, 2008.
    • Submission in PDF file only.
    • Please include author contact info and copyright info on cover page.
    • Please remove your name and contact info from all pages except cover page.
    • Scripts may run no longer than ten minutes.
    • Plays must be unproduced and unpublished.
    • Limit: one submission per playwright.
    • Baseball must be a central theme to the play.
    • Set and technical requirements should be minimal.
    • Plays may have cast size of up to 5 people.
    • There is no submission fee.
Due to the high volume of submissions, entries that do not follow these guidelines will not be considered.
    Production details:
    • Winners will be notified by email on or before December 15th, 2008.
    • Mile Square Theatre will select four of the seven plays from this open call.
    • Selected plays will premiere at the 7th Inning Stretch on March 14th, 2009, in Hoboken, New Jersey.
    • Playwrights will be welcome, but not required, to attend rehearsals.
    • An anthology of plays from the 7th Inning Stretch is soon to be published by Playscripts, Inc. In the event of a second anthology, Mile Square Theatre and Playscripts, Inc. will consider all selected plays for future publication.
The mission of Mile Square Theatre is to promote the theatre arts in the community of Hoboken and Hudson County, New Jersey by bringing together theatre artists and presenting works of quality that speak to a diverse audience and reflect the beauty and complexity of today's world.
